My Story: By a dear friend of mine.

It started around 2 am. i was sound asleep but i felt a lump come up in my throat (like when your about to cry) i coughed and it was gone. Then another lump, cough and gone. Cant tell you how many lumps (being half asleep i never even raised up).  When daylight broke and my husbands alarm went off i raised my head and coughed into my hand. That's when i noticed my hand was covered in blood, my pillow, my bed, some in the floor, in my hair, all on the side of my face i guess from laying in it. We drove to the hospital where i got an xray (normal) and a ct scan with dye (slight pneumonia) is what they said. i coughed up blood spatters all day long as i was at the hospital from right after daylight til dark. After 2 iv bags of antibiotics and a steroid shot i was finally sent home with slight pneumonia. The rest of the year goes by without anything.  somewhere close to a year later out of the blue i start coughing, couldn't stop. I got choked and my husband hit me on the back pretty hard, up came a glob (sorry i don't know how else to explain it.) it was yellow and bloody and as big as my fist. I figure i would have choked to death trying to get it up if he hadn't whacked me. we headed to hospital again. I felt fine, nothing hurting...nothing. no more blood til i got to the hospital. I coughed a handful of times there and it was blood. They admitted me (different hospital). xrays (normal) ct scan with dye (normal) after 2 days in the hospital and lots of antibiotics and steroids and no more blood, they let me go home.   3 days later i feel a lump come up in my throat, i cough and its a blood clot ( a little bigger than a quarter). I call myself a lung Dr. (I took the clot with me so they would believe this) He does xray(normal) so he sets me up to run the light down in my lungs. (Normal) Tells me i have chronic bronchitis cause from smoking. Runs a copd test (passed with no signs of copd). I got myself an appointment with stomach Dr. Run light into my stomach( normal).  Set myself up with ear nose and throat Dr. Run ct scan on sinuses (normal) and light down throat 2 times (Normal). A year passes again during all this with no blood. Around a year later i lay down on my right side in the bed, a few minutes later i hear a bubbling noise in my chest (like someone blowing into a straw in a drink) a few seconds later its choking me so i go to cough it up and its blood, about half a coffee cup before i was done. after that for a few days i could cough and specks of blood or streaks were in it.  Back to lung Dr (whom i now see every 6 months and they still say chronic bronchitis even tho i passed copd test).  He decides to run the light in my lungs again (slight bronchitis) this time it only took like 5 months for the blood to come back.  then it started to come every month (this is when i realized it was coming up the same time every month that i started my menstrual cycle).  Sometimes its just specks when i cough, sometimes it starts bubbling in my chest and makes me cough. sometimes its allot, sometimes a little, but now its comin every time i have my cycle. i have seen a obgyn. They don't seem to be to concerned with it even tho there is a rare possibility the two are connected. i haven't been back to lung dr yet to tell him ive connected the two together. I have been a smoker for a long time. I smoked menthol for awhile after the problems started but stopped them and am now down to half a pack of lights. I don't know if its connected or not but a year before all this i had my son via csection and had my tubes cut and burnt.  After that the cycles were horrible anyways. then a year later it started coming....um... out both ends i guess you would say. I have heard in rare cases endometreosis can go to ur lungs and cause you to cough blood during your cycle but obgyn seems to not believe this is the case because its sooo rare. I very rarely hurt in my chest, i do get bronchitis from time to time because i am a smoker, i know how it feels to have it and sometimes i think they just pass it off as that cause they cant explain whats going on.  Oh I've also had a tb test (normal) and the sputum culture( normal). I am 35 years old. was 32 when it started. Have never had any kind of problems. Endometreosis does run in my family, my mom grandmother and aunt had it. Every time i go to dr i get treated with antibiotics and steroids as if i have bronchitis and sent home, they all act like its nothing of concern. Anyone who may know anything on this PLEASE let me know. Thank you for your help!!
